Let’s have a look at some healthy food combinations that work well for your taste buds, lifestyle as well as your fat loss goals!

Lentils & rice

Lentils and rice is an ideal food combination for a reason! Lentils are high in lysine, an amino acid that is missing in rice. Rice is high in sulfur-based amino acids, which are missing in lentils. A combination of rice and lentils includes all the necessary amino acids, thus making a nutritionally complete meal! Moreover, the addition of lentils provides additional fiber forming a potent combination.

Paneer/tofu/chicken with veggies

An excellent example of a good food combination is combining a quality source of protein with vegetables. For non-vegetarians, chicken is an amazing source of lean protein while for vegetarians, it is tofu and cottage cheese. You can combine some chicken, cottage cheese, or tofu with non-starchy vegetables such as broccoli, peppers, peas, etc., and make a salad/salad bowl. Alternatively, you can stir fry the vegetables and add the chicken, tofu, or cottage cheese in grilled form. A simple, yet delicious meal can help you reach your goals.

Yogurt with seeds & dry fruits

Yogurt is a complete protein and contains a moderate amount of calcium and slow-digesting carbohydrates. When combined with seeds & dry fruits, it makes for a nutritionally dense combination that is high in fiber. Yogurt can be combined with a variety of seeds:

  • Flax seeds are high in B vitamins, magnesium, and copper, and contain a healthy dose of omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Sunflower seeds and almonds are high in protein, healthy fats, and various vitamins and minerals.
  • Chia seeds are high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants, protein, and calcium.

Oatmeal with cinnamon powder

Oatmeal is a heart-friendly, fibrous, and satiating option for your daily meal. Cinnamon, as a spice, is known to be highly satiating and helps in burning fat, boosting metabolism, and decreasing blood sugar. Together they not only taste amazing, but are also a great food combination that will help you lose weight.

Hummus with veggie sticks

Hummus is a high-protein dish known for its vitamin and mineral content and various health benefits. A great way to include hummus in your diet while aiding weight loss is to combine it with veggie sticks, especially red pepper. The vitamin C in red pepper helps in the absorption of iron from the hummus. You can also add sliced cucumber, carrots, zucchini, asparagus spears, etc.

Eggs with leafy vegetables/toast

Studies suggest that rich sources of protein such as eggs may help to increase the nutritional properties of raw vegetables and also aids better absorption of carotenoids. Eat a veggie salad of spinach, basil leaves, and other leafy vegetables with scrambled whole eggs. You can also add whole grain/multi grain bread, which are rich in carbs, for a wholesome meal.

Sprouts & veggies salad

Sprouts are another great source of protein which when combined with vegetables makes for a power-packed combination. Sprouts are packed with a variety of vitamins and minerals. For a nutritious combination, mix some sprouts into your salad with your favourite spices and enjoy the taste and health benefits simultaneously!
