A path to fitness...

The initial days were difficult for me…
‘In the beginning, it was difficult to incorporate a new diet and workout routine, especially with my health concerns. For the initial two weeks, I skipped the breakfast and lunch plan and only followed the dinner plan. Gradually I started with a full-day routine and incorporated the workouts slowly’ says Akshit. ‘The process started getting easier from the second month’ he shares.

‘I am a football player. So I picked up running’ says Tushar. ‘I started going for walks that soon transformed into running sessions. I loved running even if it was for a few minutes’ he shares.
‘I have been going for runs for almost 5 months now. And it has been a very positive experience. I love the influx of energy after a good run’ says Tushar. ‘I am continuing to run almost 3 miles every day. My best record has been 5kms in 23 minutes’ he shares.
Taking running for life…
‘I believe that we can’t keep going to the gym for life. Running is one fitness activity we can do anytime and anywhere in the world’ says Tushar. ‘Even if I feel tired, and gasping for breath, a good run is one of the most enjoyable parts of my day’ he shares.
‘I realized that at some point in time, I have to become self-disciplined and dedicated to maintaining my diet and workout routine. Losing weight post-pregnancy
‘Post-pregnancy I was very desperate to lose pregnancy weight. And I had stopped eating for it’ says Sangeet. ‘I did have a tremendous weight loss but it left my body with a deficiency in vitamin and hemoglobin levels. When I achieved 52-53 kgs, I started eating normal food. And would try to maintain it around it’ she shares.

‘I had tried different workout routines and diet plans in the past’ says Samyak. ‘I have been on home prepped subscription meals, diet plans, etc. I was also a member of the Gym where I got a personal trainer working on my fitness for an hour every day. ‘In the initial months, I felt like I was eating too much. The food was just the kind I would love to eat and the portions would keep me full all-day-long’ says Samyak. ‘Even the workouts weren’t draining me out but kept me pumped up for the whole day. And when I lost about 2.5-3 kgs in the first month – It all felt like an achievement’ he shares.

‘For me, the struggle has been about defining the right kind of workouts and diet plan that would work for me’ says Samyak. ‘For almost a year, I had been trying different things and then found that it was not working for me’ he shares.

‘When I had cravings for something sweet during the week, I would list it down and keep it for my cheat days’ says Samyak. ‘On cheat days, although I would try to stick to the diet as much as possible, I always found some space for something sweet that would satiate my cravings’ he shares.

‘Losing weight is one thing, and achieving flat abs is another’ says Samyak. ‘Losing that extra fat to define my abs had been a struggle for me for quite some time. And with MSF, I realized that it’s a process that can be achieved when we keep working on it daily’ he shares.
‘I have undergone fat loss, and been able to live through an organized food and workout lifestyle for me. But my goals are still a few steps away’ says Samyak. ‘I am sure, I will be able to get Flat Abs soon and achieve my fitness goals. During the lockdown, the change has been so positive, that i have even started going on treks during my cheat days and seeping in positivity multi-fold,’ says Samyak.

Fitness is profusely misunderstood. It is always put through a lot of myths, trivia, misconceptions, and confusion. And, then comes an inspiring story that breaks through the stigmas and gives you a true account of how easy and basic fitness can be. Prerak Sheth, a consultant by profession, residing in the city of Washington DC, USA, has been exquisitely achieving his fitness goals one step at a time, managing his pro-travel lifestyle.
Having earnest knowledge in health & nutrition and engaged in fitness for years now, Prerak had insights into fitness but wasn’t able to achieve his fitness goals by himself. Being a Vegetarian residing in the US, and an extensive busy and pro-travel lifestyle, Prerak was on a lookout for someone who could add as a support system to his fitness and help him maintain a vegetarian diet too. With expectations to find the perfect trainer who would add value to his existing knowledge, Prerak explored alternatives and landed on Miten Says Fitness’s Instagram page. He was smitten by the ideas of fitness that Miten shared and believed that his journey would only go forward from here.
Weighing about 232 pounds, Prerak had goals of weight loss and wanted to shape up his physique too, and so he approached MSF, and instead of a short term or weekly plans – he opted for an MSF Annual Plan. “I usually do excellent in the beginning and lose track of things in days later. So a long term plan was something that I was planning for!” says Prerak.
“In the past 52-weeks, I have hopped on more than a hundred flights and traveled across more than 70 cities. I still wonder how could I lose so much while traveling,” says Prerak. He shares that MSF fit into my fitness and nutritional ideas and made this process a swift one. He ideated on trusting my instincts to maintain my protein-needs and eating low-carb diet across locations while working out effectively and regularly.
“When I was traveling to a major city in America, I would order something from a local store and mix up ingredients like chickpeas, paneer, etc with salads to eat. Other times when the locations didn’t support vegetarian food, I would find some Vegan stores, or order Salads from the Hotel room to eat. I used to throw away the gravies of dishes, and eat only the good things i.e. chickpeas, paneer, etc” says Prerak.
Prerak got married in December 2019, a good 6 months into the 52-week Transformation Plan, and was showered with compliments on his achievements. Although he took a 50-day break from the plan for the marriage planning and events, he was keeping an eye on his calorie intake throughout.
“I tried to follow the diet as much as possible. I was trying to eat the calories that I was supposed to eat. Even if I wasn’t able to maintain my diet, I would count calories throughout. On the marriage event days, I would know that I would have to eat with the guests in the evening, so I would skip my meals in the morning and balance my calories that way.” says Prerak.
Prerak says that he was a foodie but the awareness of fitness has changed his choices now. “After following through a healthy diet and chasing my way through weight loss, I have become conscious of what I eat. There are things that I don’t feel like eating anymore. I used to love Cheese Burst Pizza but the last time I was in India, I couldn’t eat it more than a slice” shares Prerak.
“Pizzas are forever, But that unnecessary hogging has gone away. I would prefer a much healthier version of pizza on my cheat days,” says Prerak.
After a lifestyle of active traveling for over a year, the lockdown came as a time of respite and rest for Prerak. And the struggles of maintaining the weight loss journey during these times felt easier than it was when traveling. So when it came to maintaining calorie intake, or physical exercises, he could do it better than other times.
From picking ingredients, clean eating to at-home exercises, practicing a healthy lifestyle was way easier during the lockdown.
There are always weak days. There are times when we fall into the temptation of food, laziness, and other things. But Prerak believes that “Fitness is a Mind Game and it’s the change in thoughts and motivation that helps us save from the temptation.” Prerak says,
“If your goal is more important than the temptation, than your mind has just to play the game and stay strong”
“I wasn’t 100% compliant to the program. There were days when I would cheat when I wasn’t supposed to. But, I always make up for the cheat days and put in that extra effort to balance it. Whenever I would feel derailed, I would somehow compensate for it” shares Prerak.

]]>Vikash Shah, an Independent Consultant, and Rotarian from Tanzania enjoyed a rather laid back and social lifestyle in his cocoon of happiness. Having never walked into a gym, or workout experience in life, Vikash was pretty content of his health and looks. But things changed when a friend suggested to him the MSF Transformation Plan. “I joined the gym when I started with the MSF plan. I had never lifted any weight in my life, never attended a gym, or followed a fitness regime. But as it was required in the plan, I went for it. ‘I have been visiting gyms and working out in the past. Fitness had always been important to me. But it was never about balance or mindfulness. I would believe that I could eat what I wanted and then burn it off’ shares Anand. ‘It was more about working out then about the food that I eat’ he adds.
‘I was a regular at the gym and even followed some personal trainers, but somehow the diets would fade and the workouts never brought permanent results’ shares Anand. ‘It was hard for me to see any credible change on the body shape, and that led me to Miten Says Fitness’ he expresses.
‘I worked for the F&B industry in the past, and my role included trying new food and beverages where even if I had 2-3 gulab jamuns, I wouldn’t worry about my diet. But now it’s different’ adds Anand. ‘Further, being from a Maharashtrian cultured family, the core food was a constant part of my diet, and to be able to break the pattern and try new things was a hassle’ says Anand.

Sometimes I felt that it’s not working, but then it’s making a difference,’ says Swati. ‘And in these times I realized that I had to trust the process and keep up with it. Challenges of working out…
‘When I started my journey, I was mostly sore all the time. But then it was because I hadn’t been using those muscles before’ says Swati. ‘A few exercises were easy for me but a lot of them were difficult too. But you don’t give them up just because they are difficult!’ she shares.
‘I have been consistently working out for months and am still not able to do push-ups. But modified versions have helped me grow and I believe that one day I shall get there’ says Swati. ‘It's all about working on yourself every day to grow and achieve your goals’ she shares.
Balancing work and fitness routine
‘My work commitment has been my biggest challenge during my fitness journey. While earlier the office timings and rush kept me busy, during the lockdown it was the extra workload that made me struggle’ says Swati. ‘I often used to do a little less workout due to shortage of time, but then I would make sure that I am active throughout the day’ she shares.

Delhi-based Abhijeet Singh Narwal, a young and dynamic B2B sales professional working for Uber, had his little trip around fitness that changed his perception.
Having stayed fit almost his entire life, Abhijeet found himself weighing 84 kgs at the end of 2019 and stuck in a hectic lifestyle where he believed he stood no chance to lay attention to his health. Jai Manglani, a cosmopolitan millennial and textile exporter by profession, enjoyed playing football and had an active lifestyle. But despite living an active and busy lifestyle, his food habits landed him in the world of obesity. His struggle with excessive body weight started right when he weighed 98kgs, and ever since he had been juggling between his food habits and weight management. Jai says ‘15-18 weeks of the lockdown, I was put on the shedding phase, and soon reached 71.5 kgs. It was one of the best times. Having achieved my desired weight, the focus now has shifted to mindful weight gain and shaping my body’.

Hitting the plateau!

‘It is a perfectly doable program. And it made me realize that little things matter so much’ says Rahul. ‘Apart from the weight loss, I could find out the little things that were making me hit the plateau. I didn’t just overcome my plateau but learned a lot on where I was lacking,’ he shares.
Workout Routines changed my perspective!
‘I have been a cardio person all my life. I used to do treadmill & cross-trainers. I was never into weight lifting’ says Rahul. ‘So when I tried weight lifting, I realized the gym trainers have the same schedule designed for all. And over time it fails to give results.’ He shares.
‘Earlier when I used to do 10 reps of exercise it was always easy. But now each set of exercises brings that extra burn because MSF taught me how to concentrate on the right muscles’ says Rahul. ‘Now even the strength training, Circuit training, etc feels great and I have started to pair my cardio sessions with weight training perfectly’ he shares.
Overcoming my weaknesses
‘I have been a sweet tooth all my life. So some piece of dark chocolates, cake or sweet would always be on my indulgence list’ says Rahul. ‘But with MSF I have realized that these small binges like makhanas, peanuts, or dark chocolates (which we consider as negligible) aren't doing any good’ he shares.

‘As a hotelier, I am always on my foot. As I am constantly dealing with customers and other people – my personality and looks have a lot of impact on their behavior as well’ says Rahul. ‘Now that I look sharp and chiseled, I feel confident of myself when going to talk to people’ he shares.
‘Being a hotelier, I am required to wear suits at work. All my suits have now gone loose and now I have called for a tailor to get them resized’ says Rahul.

‘Having seen me getting such great results in so short a time, my wife too got enthusiastic about the program. ‘Earlier, my diet usually consisted of experiments where I ate less to lose weight. From living in a constant struggle of weight loss to finding an apt method to reach his goals, Rohit took up the MSF Transformation Challenge and transformed not just his weight but also his perception towards fitness. Here’s how Rohit adapted himself to fitness!
Having a lifestyle revolving around a diet of junk food, college schedule, and a shop to attend, Rohit Varma had always struggled with time to dedicate to fitness. Although gym memberships were taken and a few sessions were attended now and then, Rohit would always return to his regular life and weight in due time. It was difficult to perceive the fitness journey as a student.
“I joined gyms a few times and lost a few kilos. But eventually, college exams and routines would take away my time and the lost weight would return too. I was looking for something more long-lasting and beneficial.”
“During the 3rd year of my college, I came across Miten Says Fitness’s Instagram handle and was motivated to see so many people transforming their bodies through Miten’s guidance,” says Rohit. Rohit had always put his attention to workout as a means to fitness, little had he known that dietary changes mattered much more than fitness. “Miten helped me understand the role of a diet in fitness. While I had always been on and off gym schedules and only focused on workouts for reducing weight I would always struggle to keep up with the lost weight and maintain it. Miten helped me understand how diet is a major player in helping me lose weight.
He replaced unhealthy food with healthy choices. I am a vegetarian and preferred homemade food, he kept that in mind and customized my diet as per my lifestyle. His efforts made me put in extra efforts from my end too.” emphasizes Rohit.
“So I was given a healthy bowl of smoothie to begin my day. As I wasn’t a breakfast person, I used to usually skip the smoothie and opt for just a glass of milk. I wouldn’t say I followed the workout routine full-fledged either, but the regularization of diet in itself was so life-altering I couldn’t believe I was losing weight with just that.
“I used to love the diet. I used to in fact carry my lunch box and share it with my friends too, who loved what I used to eat for my diet“
The workout was one of the biggest challenges in my challenge as I didn’t have enough time for it. I joined a gym and started working out but my busy schedule took a toll over it and I skipped sessions. Miten made me shift to at-home workout routines which offered me ample time to adapt to the exercises while balancing my college routine. Although I missed them too often, it somehow improved my stamina, strength and activity levels.
“MSF diet didn’t just help me shed kilos off my body, but also gave me clearer skin, better digestive system, and sound sleep. I used to wake up fresh and happy in the morning. I started feeling good about myself”
With the efforts, I had put in and the updates I had been receiving from MSF, I had a faint idea that my efforts would fetch me a win. ]]>From joining gyms to shedding weight and practicing on eating healthy, Surat-based Dignesh Virani had always desired fitness but couldn’t stay put with it for long. He began with the MSF Transformation Challenge and didn’t just lose 17 kgs in just 8 weeks but found a way to maintain fitness in his life. Here’s how Dignesh Virani found his way to fitness!
From where it started...
Being obese from an early age, Dignesh Virani had always fancied having a fit body. From fighting his inhibitions to following several diet plans and visiting gyms on and off – Dignesh Virani found himself lost in a loop of gaining and losing weight. Every time he dedicated himself to fitness and lost some pounds off his body, he would go back to his old weight numbers and feel guilty. Love for junk food, college routine and classes made him miss out on diet plans and workouts constantly.
Dignesh knew he needed a push to attain the level of fitness he wanted. The constant body aches, unhealthy eating, and self-doubts made him frustrated. “I weighed 82kgs and I didn't want to come back to this number again,” he says. From being stuck in a constant loop of weight gains and losses, Dignesh made his way into fitness. Are you ready for a challenge?
As far back as she can remember, Shreeya Majithia was on the heavier side; and her efforts to control her weight began early. Even as a school kid, she was perpetually on a diet. By the time she was in high school, she had already started working out at the gym. Nonetheless, Shreeya was, by her own admission, always some 10 kgs more than what she considered her ideal weight.
Shreeya went on to become an advertising professional, which made it even more difficult for her to remain fit. By 2016, the agency culture had led her into a routine of late nights, sinful eating and an all-round unhealthy lifestyle. As a result, she ended up gaining some 15-17 kgs in a year’s time.
Things came to a head in September 2017. A close friend was due to get married in November, and Shreeya was starting to get concerned about looking her best at the celebrations. She put up a story on Instagram talking about how she really needed to lose weight before the wedding.
Interestingly, Miten Kakaiya (founder, Miten Says Fitness) and Shreeya had been friends at school and had recently reconnected on Instagram. Shreeya’s Instagram story compelled Miten to DM her, saying he could help her with the weight loss. But there were just 3 weeks to go before the wedding functions, and Shreeya was doubtful whether she would be able to achieve anything. Miten assured her that she could, provided she was dedicated. “I had nothing to lose, so I went for it”, Shreeya says.
For the next 3 weeks, Shreeya was constantly in touch with Miten. In the first week itself, she lost 5-6 kgs. People started noticing the change and complimenting her. This gave her the motivation she needed, and she stuck to the diet for the full 3 weeks till the wedding
gushes Shreeya. Over the next couple of weeks, she saw more positive changes. Her hair started looking fuller and the texture improved. Her skin developed a healthy glow. “My sleep cycle became regularized and I started sleeping well. I had more energy and was cribbing less!” As a result, Shreeya enjoyed the wedding more than she could have imagined: “I looked awesome and felt super chirpy”.
Shreeya went back to following her MSF plan once the wedding was over. She was so satisfied with her experience that she went ahead and signed up for an MSF 12-Week Transformation Plan. By the end, she had lost a total of 15 kgs, and it made a huge difference to her health:
MSF turned out to be life-changing for Shreeya. To date, she has never fallen back into her old, unhealthy eating habits: “I’ve stopped craving unhealthy foods. I used to be a sugar addict. Now I don’t even have a cola.”

At 22, Yash is happy and content with where he is in his life, but it wasn’t always like that. There was a time when he had lost his way and didn’t know if he could find his way back. Reflecting on his transformation, he says
As a school kid, Yash was always active. But after school, fitness wasn’t a part of his life anymore. Then, at 18, he started going to the gym in an attempt to look muscular and fit, but without the right guidance, he kept injuring himself. He says, “I never knew it was going to be so difficult. I had done no research; I did not follow a proper routine – no warm-up, rest, stretching. There was no professional guidance. As a result, I kept getting injured.” So much so, that he couldn’t lift weights anymore and had to stop working out for a while.
Then one day, unexpectedly, Yash had to go in for emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix, as he explains, “The previous day, I was chilling with friends, and the next day I was in the hospital. Till then I had been quite fit.” But after the surgery, he went on a downward spiral. Yash recalls, “I started gaining a lot of weight. I stopped exercising altogether because of the stitches. I had a lot of negative thoughts, and started fearing that anything could happen to me out of the blue.”
Yash knew he could not take his health for granted any longer, so he made a resolution in the new year of 2019 to take the steps needed to make a change,
He started informing himself, cutting out junk, exercising portion control and training at least thrice a week. Although he had already been following MSF’s Instagram for a while, he wasn’t yet ready to sign up for his personalized MSF Transformation Plan. He wanted to see if he could do it on his own. With all his efforts he was able to lose 4 kgs in three months, going down to 88 kgs from 92 kgs.
Convinced by the testimonials and client transformation photos, Yash finally decided it was time to join the MSF 8-Week Transformation Plan
So, on 15th April, weighing 90 kgs, Yash began with MSF’s Diet and Workout Plans. And by the end of 8 weeks, he had lost 13 kgs and was down to 77 kgs, with a body fat percentage of 8% (it was 23-24% when he had started). So how did this tremendous transformation take place?
Yash explains:

As a professional DJ and artist manager, it is difficult for Yash to be disciplined, especially on weekends. He says, “During the season when I’m travelling, my sleep cycle goes for a toss. And in my nightlife, I am exposed to all kinds of unhealthy things.
Overall, Yash has gained a lot of knowledge, and with it, confidence as well – so much so that he feels that even if he cheats on his diet every now and then, he knows he will not let it affect his overall fitness. A lot of this is because he sees the many benefits of staying fit, “Since I’ve become consistent, I haven’t fallen sick, not even caught a cold.”
Summing up how he feels about his life, Yash says, “You are what you eat and what you do throughout the day. If you are not smoking and drinking and cut out all junk food, your body has everything it needs to function in the best possible way. Working out is necessary. Our bodies are made to work hard. If you have unhealthy habits, after a while it affects you mentally. You become negative. When you are confident about your body and health, it reflects in all aspects of your life.” Now that’s something we can all get behind!
And what about his final thoughts on MSF? Yash says he’s never felt that he’s been treated like just another customer, but has felt the care of a close friend, “Till date, I just message Miten directly if I have any queries and he is always very responsive. He’s like a close friend who really cares about you and who really knows his stuff. He never treats you like a customer.”

In 2014, Eklavya Rishi hit rock bottom. For the first time in his life, he had gained a lot of weight. When he saw himself in the mirror, he saw love handles, a double chin, and a belly bulge. And it made him feel depressed and discouraged.
Looking back at his younger years, he had never found it difficult to stay fit. He had always had a passion for sports – lawn tennis, swimming, and football. Eklavya had even represented India in football against Nepal and Bhutan while in college in 2004.
But it was when he started working in 2008 that his lifestyle changed. Partying and eating junk food became the norm, and the time he spent at the gym became more and more inconsistent. Till finally, an injury – a ligament tear – put him in crutches for six weeks, and brought to an end whatever physical activity he had been engaged in.
But it was finally in 2014 when he found he couldn’t fit into his clothes and was teased about it that something snapped, Eklavya says,
And over the next four years, he tried jogging, running, football, training at the gym, cycling – practically anything he could think of.
But something or the other would not click. Besides that, his stamina had taken a hit and he had simply lost the discipline that it took to stay motivated on his own. That wasn’t the only problem though – his love for beer and biryani had given him poor digestion and acidity problems.
While he was still struggling in 2018, he saw his friends make great progress, “I started noticing that all of my friends were getting fit and transforming themselves. It really made me want to get back to my old fit self.” That’s when Eklavya came across MSF’s social media. But he was still not sure if he wanted to join.
Eklavya admits, “I tried running, jogging, cycling and working out every alternate day. But my diet was still not in check, so there was no fat reduction. And I was focusing on spot reduction, which I realized later is not even possible.”
So when the new year came rolling by, Eklavya took the plunge and signed up for the MSF 8 Week Transformation Plan, “What I had I read on the MSF website convinced me. I was motivated by Miten’s own transformation and body,” tells Eklavya.
Sticking to the plan with support & motivation
This is when the real transformation began! Eklavya exclaims,
I had never eaten tomatoes all my life but now that I understood their nutritional value, thanks to my plan, I started eating them.” He even started cooking for himself and enjoying the process despite his busy work schedule.
Throughout the course of the transformation plan, he stayed determined. What helped was, this time he was not alone, he had Miten to support and motivate him,
This enthusiasm meant that he always looked forward to his weekly updated plan, and had no trouble pushing his limits because he had the right guidance: “I was excited to know what the plan had in store for me each day. And because I could focus on the correct form for the first time, and went lighter on the weights, I could push my limits.” He even managed to stick to his plan while travelling, “because Miten helps me with no-equipment workouts!”
And that is how the change came! Eklavya feels he underwent a great transformation,

My injuries don’t bother me anymore, and I feel more like my former athletic self, once again,” he signs off!

For Ruchi, “It was never about the weight!” but about something more significant. She wanted body definition but more importantly, she wanted to feel fit.
Throughout her childhood, she had been skinny and sporty. But after her wedding in 2011 and then her baby in 2015, things changed for her. Suddenly, she found herself feeling conscious about her weight. So Ruchi tried doing all the ‘right’ things, like taking yoga classes, running, etc. She did lose the weight but couldn’t get a grip on her diet, thanks to her hectic social life. But more than just numbers on the scale, Ruchi was looking for a sense of fulfilment she just couldn’t find, “I wanted to feel fit from the inside.” And that’s when she discovered MSF…
Being a nutritionist herself, Ruchi understood the value of diet and exercise for a healthy lifestyle. But she also recognized that she needed help with getting structure and discipline into her lifestyle. And that was when, in 2018, her cousin introduced her to MSF. “He had DM-ed Miten a few times on Instagram, and Miten had very sweetly replied to his queries. So I decided to ask Miten a few things myself, about his programs and training method. It was because of how positive my initial interactions with Miten had been that I decided to go ahead with participating in the MSF Transformation Challenge in October that year,” she explains.
At that point, Ruchi had a busy social life, which meant she was going out every evening and found it very challenging to exercise any control over her diet. She had tried and failed to do it on her own. “I needed somebody to push me,” confesses Ruchi. So how did she find the Transformation Challenge?
Ruchi says she learnt a lot along the way about what it means to have a fitness lifestyle. She explains that it made a huge difference when Miten understood that she needed variety in her diet plan to keep it interesting:
And what about her workout plan? Ruchi says it was never boring. During the Challenge, she mostly did HIIT-based workouts, which were fun and exciting. She also says that she had little knowledge about balancing protein intake to gain muscles. Hence, it turned out to be a great learning experience for her as well.
Overall, Ruchi says, she was able to retain a lot of what she learned and has made it a part of her lifestyle. Although she ‘cheated a few times (“It was Diwali – so parties, of course!”), she still managed to burn the fat and saw traces of ab definition developing by the time she had completed the Challenge. And by the end of it, two months didn’t even seem like that long a commitment! What’s more, she even walked away with 3rd prize!
But Ruchi says she always wanted to come back to MSF for more! So she signed up for the MSF Annual Plan this year. With the kind of variety of exciting workouts in the MSF Annual plan, even the trainers at her local gym are stumped. She enthuses:
And even though she has, at times, struggled to remain faithful to her diet plan, she’s got her eye on her next goal – a wedding she has to attend in October! And she is confident she can get there with Miten’s support. Go Ruchi, the MSF fam is rooting for you!

As it often is for many of us, Bhaskar was fairly active as a child, whether it was walking to school, running during his college days and trekking whenever he could find the chance. But once he started working in 2006, he settled more and more into a sedentary lifestyle, where finding time for activities like walking, running and swimming became difficult. Eating out and ordering became the norm, and he never missed the chance to indulge his sweet tooth.
Over the years, he wasted a lot of money on gym memberships that he never ended up using. Till that fateful day in 2016 when he was forced to take the stairs because the lift at work was out of order. He recalls, “By the time I reached my floor, I was completely winded out, huffing and puffing.” It was then that he knew he had to act.
It was on a friend’s advice that he decided to try the keto diet through an online service in Pune. And for a while, it gave him great results. He lost 8 kg in 45 days! But the minute he switched back to his regular diet, he started gaining weight again. He realized he would need something more sustainable because he could not live on a protein and fat intensive diet forever. But another two years would go by before he realized the answer had been staring him in the face for a long time.
By 2018, Bhaskar had been following MSF on social media for a couple of years. He had already exchanged a few emails with Miten when he finally decided to sign up for the MSF Transformation Challenge. He did still have his doubts, “I thought that maybe because of my own laidback attitude, it may not work, and I might end up wasting money again. But I had confidence in MSF because of what I had observed on their social media.” What he still lacked, though, was confidence in himself. But it was Miten’s first email to him, telling him that he just needed to have the right mindset, which gave him the first boost of confidence. He says, “That first sentence is still embossed in my mind. That was a game-changer for me!”
Looking back at his experiences, Bhaskar says
Bhaskar was very pleased that the food in the diet plan prescribed to him was to his liking. As someone who loves Indian food, he was happy that he could continue to enjoy all its flavors. He says,
What’s more, he even started to enjoy weight training, which he attributes to the variety: “Nothing was monotonous. I was always engaged.” This was a big change for him as he had never enjoyed working out with weights before because of how boring and repetitive it seemed to him.
Things were starting to change in his personal life as well – he quit his job and started his own venture, which gave him more time to dedicate to fitness. He explains, “Now I make sure to keep two-and-a-half hours every morning just for myself, so I can prepare my meals for the day and workout.”
Overall, Bhaskar says the journey has been amazing. He ended up securing 1st prize at the MSF Transformation Challenge (October 2018)! He elaborates,
There was a time when he would look enviously at all the fit-looking people in their fitted gym-wear and wished he could feel confident enough to wear such fitted clothes. And now that his body is in good shape, he feels confident enough to wear what he wants!
After winning the challenge, he updated his social media and was flooded with questions from people on how he achieved his current fitness level. He exclaims, “People have started asking me for fitness advice and guidance but I always direct them to MSF. A lot of my friends have enrolled with MSF already and many are considering the same.”
Recalling the first piece of advice he ever received from Miten about having the right mindset, Bhaskar adds, “Now I can have a ladoo or gulab jamun guilt-free, because I know I will work it all off in the gym. I now know how to get rid of those extra calories. So I no longer worry about eating sweets every now and then!”

Akanksha’s struggle began when she was in school in Delhi. As an overweight teenager, she felt isolated and judged by her peer-group. This drove her towards a series of fad diets that promised miraculous results: “You can ask me about any fad diet, I’ve done them all”. But essentially, these diets just made Akanksha starve herself and eat boring food. Not surprisingly, she was unable to sustain any of them.
Akanksha also tried all kinds of workouts – dance, cardio, Zumba, yoga, martial arts – but none of these brought her long-term results. There were tons of quick-fix fitness packages that promised things like ‘Lose 5 kgs in 3 weeks’ but no one offered a long-term solution. By the time Akanksha was in college, her weight was constantly fluctuating.
But she didn’t give up! Akanksha signed up with a US-based online trainer. She enjoyed the workouts but the food was just too unfamiliar. As a working professional, it was hard for Akanksha to figure out her macros, and plan her meals all on her own.
So when Akanksha moved to Mumbai for work, she started eating meals provided by some ‘healthy’ dabba companies. But she found that the dabbas always left her feeling hungry, as a result of which she would end up ‘cheating’ on her diet.
That’s when Akanksha thought to herself, “There must be someone in India who gives macros-based diets.” She started searching online, and in March 2019, signed up for lunch and dinner with MSF meals.
While with ‘healthy’ dabbas, the quantities had always seemed too small, with MSF meals Akanksha was worried she was eating too much: “I even sent Miten a mail in the first week asking him if he was sure about the quantity. He assured me it was as per my macros.”
Within the first week, Akanksha’s energy levels improved. By the fourth-week people were telling her she had lost weight. She had been blaming Mumbai weather for her oily skin and hair fall, but both problems surprisingly got solved after she started eating MSF meals!
When the 5th MSF Transformation Challenge came by in June 2019, Akanksha thought, “Let’s try Miten’s workouts as well”. Akanksha found the workouts challenging – but in a good way: “He had a lot of innovative routines; his classification of muscle groups was different, and things were different every week. One time Miten sent me a weight-free home workout. I was reluctant to try it because I was used to weighting training, but ended up really liking it! Now I really appreciate his attitude of experimenting, in his own workouts and for his clients.”
By the end of the Challenge, Akanksha didn’t lose a lot of weight but went down by 2 whole dress sizes! “I have a long way to go, but the compliments are coming. People are telling me you have lost weight.” Akanksha had initially been concerned about her weight not budging, “I would send Miten panic-stricken emails at all hours. He told me not to obsess over the number on the weighing scale. He explained that fat was getting replaced by muscle, and making me look toned.”
As someone who used to be sceptical of online trainers, Akansha now feels that good online trainers like Miten are in fact better because gym trainers are often mentally absent while being physically present.
As a person who has suffered from hurtful body-shaming, Akanksha was greatly impacted when Miten posted an unflexed photo of himself on social media to show that no one looks perfect all the time, even a trainer. It taught her not to let those ‘perfect’ Instagram shots deflate her confidence.
Akanksha shares one of the many insights she has gained, “It has taken me 15 years to put on this weight, so I can’t expect it to go in 15 days. But also, with time and effort, you can achieve whatever you want. It is important to not be hard on oneself. Just keep showing up and believing in yourself.”
